Happy International Women’s Day, Agents of SHIELD fandom!
Oh, yeah, for sure. I’m looking for something on par with the “well-formed and symmetrical” line, lol. SO OBVIOUS SHE’S INTO HER, but not a huge coming out story.
oh, good call! that’s a perfect way to introduce jemma as bi without making it a big deal. which it’s not. (i told my best friend i was bi in the car and she screamed. with happiness. it was adorABLE.)

i would honestly just love for jemma to fangirl over a hot lady and like skye tilts her head, nods, and then the scene moves on. done.

I agree, sexuality hasn’t been a huge deal to anyone except for the mayward sideplot..but also Jemma has openly ogled Mike, so it would be really easy for her to do that to another woman and ta-da—bisexuality established. Totally casual, still canon
good good good. as long as they made it clear that she was doing that because i’m not here for blink-and-you’ll-miss-it. mostly because i’m dumb and unobservative. but as long as it’s fairly casual, i’m down. ♥
so i’ve pretty much been thinking about this question all day- i saw it on mobile before school and gave it some solid brainpower during class, oops.
i think you’re right, fitz is definitely aware of jemma’s bisexuality. it wasn’t a big deal for him (because leo fitz’s ambiguous sexuality is my favorite thing); at the academy, it wasn’t overly acknowledged but it was understood. people figured it out. she would kind of hint around at it, being like “women; can’t live with them, can’t live without them” and stuff like that. no one there made a big deal out of it. in a perfect world, s.h.i.e.l.d. would be super tolerant. tori will kick the shit out of you if you’re a bigot whether you’re affiliated with s.h.i.e.l.d. or not.
i guess i don’t think she’d have a serious, legitimate coming out. it scares her. she’s a privileged princess; mommy and daddy probably wouldn’t like to hear that precious jemma likes kissing girls, too. i don’t want it to be a cliche. i don’t want ward to walk in on jemma kissing skye or something. (this is in show canon, by the way.)
teen wolf handled it well (i don’t watch, but i saw the “i thought you liked girls” / “i do like girls” / “do you also like boys?” / “absolutely” scene a hundred times on my dash and loved it. something like that, maybe. i think skye would probably be the one to flat-out ask if jemma’s gay, maybe if she sees jemma eyeing a cute waitress or something. that would give jemma the perfect opportunity to say “girls and boys” or something along those lines. may and coulson probably wouldn’t acknowledge it outright. i don’t see them being that type. i think they would probably just kind of get it eventually (mel’s spent enough time around tori to be able to just sense girls who like other girls, let’s be real). the bus isn’t really somewhere where sex gets talked about a lot, because it makes it so awkward (read: “agent ward and i have been having sex”). ward wouldn’t even say anything, that strange, strange, uncomfortable blob of a human. he would bring it up at inopportune times, probably.
but less about ward, more about jemma. i don’t honestly know what to say to answer this, because it’s a very well thought-out question. i want a blatant acknowledgement of her sexuality, but i also don’t want them to flash a big, neon, look-how-tolerant-we-are sign in our faces. i don’t want a sob story or a joke made of her sexuality.
i just want jemma. she’s a great character who’s gotten a lot of good development and still has a long way to go, and she is so much more than who she’s interested in sleeping with, regardless of how much i’m talking about bisexual jemma. i want an acknowledgement of it, really. i just want them to show us a character who has all of these wonderful aspects and is bisexual and has that shown in a realistic, positive light. i don’t want that to be her only facet.
thank you for this question. it made me think (a dangerous pasttime). ♥
just drove past a sign for a local church production of godspell and literally gasped out loud. subsequently almost cried in my car. i suggest everyone does this show at some point in their life: you’ll make friendships and you’ll have a whole new family at the end. i’m jealous of people getting to have that all over again. I LOVE IT SO MUCH OKAY SO MUCH SO MUCH LOVE
sext: tell me about the night you dragged yourself down from the stars and bathed the dawn in wildfires, until the blood-bright horizon curled its toes and cried out from all the newness of feeling.
